Then God Rested

In the beginning their was God’s word.
He spoke and created all of the world.

The first thing He made was His glorious light,
Then he created the day and the night.

Then He made heaven high above earth,
And waters below He created, with His word.

Then the waters came together and there was dry land.
The deep seas were formed, just as He planned

He made trees and plants, to produce fruit and shade,
and He said “it was good”, all that He made.

Then God made the lights for the earth the next day,
Stars, and moon for the night and the sun for the day.

They measure our months and they measure our years,
Our seasons and days are all written here.

Then God made the creatures that swim in the sea,
And birds that fly high, with grace and beauty.

Then God turned to the land and spoke, “Let there be,
creatures who walk and creatures who creep”.

“Let us make man in Our image and likeness,
We will be one with Him and He will be one with us.”

Then, so Adam would not be alone,
He put him to sleep in his new home.

He took from his body a part of the man,
And created for him a lovely woman

When Adam awoke, she was standing there,
With glory and beauty like none can compare.

He named her woman because she came from Him,
God’s only command, ” My children, don’t sin.

Then God looked around and said” It is good”
And He rested that day as everyone should.

I wish I could say they listened to Him,
But they chose their own way and reasoned within.

They listened instead to the lier, called Satan,
And ate of the tree that was forbidden.

When God found them standing there covered with leaves,
He asked them what happened, did they eat of that tree?

Adam blamed it on Eve and she blamed the serpent,
Who said not a word, he was guilty and knew it.

Each one had an answer for the thing they did,
Hiding from God, ashamed of their sin.

So the man must toil in the ground each day
In the heat of the sun, for the price he must pay.

Pain in travailing as a child is born
Equality with man, Eve, you won’t have any more.

The serpent himself would have a price to pay,
The Messiah was promised to destroy him one day.

God kept His promise, given to Eve that day.
There did come a time for the enemy to pay.

From a woman came the Word, clothed in the flesh,
Conceived by the Holy Spirit to take us out of this mess.

He brought hope and healing to the people he touched.
But the organized religion hated Him so much.

He revealed their lies, that the people believed,
He rebuked them in public and made those men seethe.

They devised a plan they knew could not fail.
They set up a trap, this imposter to kill.

They used His own man they bought with a price,
30 pieces of silver in exchange for His life.

They found Him in the garden with His closest friends,
With the kiss of a traitor, they bound and brought Him in.

Then the high priest and rulers questioned our king,
Knowing to Pilot, to him they would bring.

But Pilot could find no fault with this man
He offered them a choice. which was law of the land.

But they chose a robber, instead of the king
With rage in their voice they cried” hang him from a tree!”

So Pilot, to try to appease the mad crowd
Had our Lord scourged severely, hoping that would calm them down.

But the people were incensed and they screamed with all their might
So Pilot gave in and washed his hands of the Son of Man.

Our saviors body was broken and bleeding
He didn’t deserve the treatment He was receiving.

But He bore it willingly because He had a plan.
He would die on that cross to save all of man.

As they mocked Him with hate, they led Him to die
Not knowing His plan to free you and I.

He was unrecognizable as they crucified Him that day,
He hung on that cross to take all of our sins away.

But wait, that’s not all I have to say, Our God raised Him up on the third day.

So much has happened since then, it’s hard to recall,
But He rescued each one of us from Our sinful fall.

If we die with Him there on that tree where He hung,
Well rise with Him in freedom as our knew life has begun.

As we come into His heart and He comes into ours
The joy we will know is rivers of living waters.

His righteousness we will wear as we come before His throne,
No longer orphans but His children , as we call His heart our home.

He will guide us with His Spirit and the light of His word
We will stand with Him in victory using His mighty sword.

Oh the joy and peace we will know, as we look upon His face.
His power is made perfect, in our weakness, His amazing grace.

Oh the love He has for us, all the promises He gives,
So we can know our Father and in His covenant live!

Oh the rapture! Oh the glory, as we know him intimately, for now, we only see in part but one day perfectly.
