Soul tools vs. Kingdom tools

One of the ways I was able to heal quickly from severe emotional illness was by letting go of soul tools and embracing Kingdom tools instead.

A pastor friend of mine explained to me that soul tools were tools my carnal self chose to use to survive certain painful situations where it didn’t know a better way. My soul did not rely on God and His tools and so she relied on her own mind ( wise in her own eyes), to find a way to deal with the pain in her heart. What I like to call, Soul tools.

Soul tools are any coping skill we use that are not sanctioned by the Word of God. Examples of some soul tools I learned to use were, a victim mentality, a orphan mentality and self harm. These probably don’t appear to be tools to you at first but look a little deeper and you will see how our soul chooses this state of being over being centered in Christ. Anything that we use in our carnal man is a soul tool. Not all soul tools are sin, but all can be replaced with much more effective and for-filling Kingdom tools.

Kingdom tools are anything in the Word of God that we can walk in that will enhance the quality of our life and enable us to receive all the covenant promises our heavenly Father intended us to have. Some examples of Kingdom=tools are, being centered in Christ, seeing through spiritual eyes, having a grateful heart and choosing life and godliness over our own way. Kingdom tools allow us to have an amazing relationship with our beloved God, in all His fullness.

In future blogs we will discuss in depth different types of soul tools and also the Kingdom tools you can trade them in for as a child of the living God
